Zanzibar Soul Fusion

My family and I visited Zanzibar in Shaker Square on a Saturday afternoon. Our server Mac S. was very attentive and friendly. Blueberry and sweet potato mini muffins were brought to our table as a complementary item. I ordered a pineapple mojito and fried chicken, greens, yams and mac & cheese. The yams were my favorite but I had no complaints about my meal! If you’re considering a visit, I recommend going.

We had reservations on a Thursday night. Our other guests were arriving later and the waitstaff was able to accommodate the late arrivals. As the atmosphere soothed our souls by playing 90's R&B my expectations grew. To my surprise, I saw fried green tomatoes on the menu, which were great. Every person we interacted with was welcoming and attentive. For the past 4 years of visiting my daughter in Ohio, this was a dramatic change for my taste buds. I will return for the southern yet up-to-date family experience Thank you to all the members who worked that night and made my experience a one to remember.

Visited Zanzibar with a party of 11. EVERYTHING was fire!! I haven’t eaten here in about 3 years since it was sold. I’m so glad that the old owner is back! The service was perfect, the waitress was perfect(Tenishia) and the food as well. Between all the appetizers & the food. There was not one complaint from the group. Everything came out smoking hot! The waitress remembered everyone’s name & was a lot of help. There was not a time that she had us waiting long for anything. We will definitely be returning. Overall perfect job. The honey glazed whole wings are the TRUTH!! Overall, PERFECT job! Music was a vibe & being played at a moderate volume as well. The Soul Food, Had Soul in it!

The food is always delicious every time we've been here. Service is very quick. The restaurant is immaculately clean and smells so fresh. The music sets a positive vibe. The staff is absolutely top notch. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Our server, Tanisha, was the best! So upbeat and friendly, anticipating and exceeding everything we might need. She is so genuinely kind and amazing!

Amazing. I came for just a bite and then was possessed by the menu. Got more than I bargained for. It was somehow a nice restaurant but also like being at a family gathering. I drove up to Cleveland for something to do and I found it. Very real and inviting staff. They were almost TOO nice to me. I had not had food like that in a while due to some health and family problems. It made me very happy. Smiling fool on the way out.

My first time here. The mood was sexy and inviting, Bri was outstanding, and informative. The food was excellent! I will be back when I'm in town.

I can't believe it took me YEARS to finally check this place out! I went on a Sunday around noon and despite it being busy with the post-church crowd, our service was amazing!!! I've never been treated so well by staff in my life! Our main server was Brie and I'll make sure to ask for her as my server for now on. We also were checked up on by a few other employees, including this delightful man in a cowboy hat (I didn't catch his name, unfortunately). For the entire two hours my friend and I were there, we never felt rushed and our waters were always refilled. Now as for the food, I have no complaints! I should mention the menu prices on their website are outdated but only by about 10-20%. But be mindful of that! I chose to treat myself to the jerk chicken wings with sides of Cajun corn and sweet potato waffle fries. For $19, I was given DOUBLE the amount of food I expected! And thank goodness for that because I am now addicted to their deep fried jerk chicken wings! We were also given extra blueberry and sweet potato mini muffins 😋 😍. My friend ordered the fish cakes, corn, and coleslaw and enjoyed her dish as well! Tip was included in the bill but as it is only 15%, we left a few dollars extra each. Thanks for the yummy food and great service! I fully intend to come back again soon!

The shrimp and grits were amazing however a wee bit salty. My friend had the pasta … wow ! Portions are generous too. Loved our waitress and we felt very taken care off. This place is wonderful and i encourage anyone who hasn’t tried soul food or maybe misses southern food … please try this shaker square gem!
