Being open-minded and interested in experiencing various walks of life pays off when living in Miami. Looked on eventbrite for something to do on a recent Friday night. Found a RuPaul's Drag Race elimination round watch party. And this is how I learned about Villain Theater! From what I gathered, there is quite a variety of programming here like improv and comedy shows.

A friend and I met up here for the big event. I've been familiar with Little Haiti for decades but admittedly haven't kept up with what's going on since the area started changing. All that to say, I went in totally blind. Well, honey. Villain Theater opened my eyes! Wide open, in a great way.

There is a lobby/waiting area with a concession stand and restrooms. The theater inside is dark with low lighting, plenty of seating and a stage that is easily viewable from any seat in the room. On the evening I visited, not only was there the RPDR watch party with amazing hosts, there was even an all-out revue! Now, I wasn't expecting this. Nevertheless, it was certainly an entertaining and tasteful experience with expert performers as well as amateurs. Pro tip is bring plenty of cash ($1s and $5s) - I know for next time. Performers also accept tips via electronic payment. 🙂

Villain Theater felt like an all-inclusive safe space. Everyone was welcomed in and treated with respect. I highly commend the staff and hosts for doing an excellent job in that regard. Major pluses were free parking, cheeeap drinks and they have popcorn!

I was looking for a Halloween cabaret for my birthday and I found an ad for Villain Theater. We were three couples coming from dinner at Zoi restaurant a few blocks away. We got to the theater and we saw a big crowd outside. Surprisingly we saw some kids because we called prior and were told it was 18 and over. When we got inside there were hardly any seats available and my party of six were split up. The show started and it was a band director and his middle school band members playing jazz. I was a little surprised again, but they were so good. Then a man came out and said he was going to be announcing all of his students and their songs for the night. At that point I realized we are actually at a concert for a school and their very talented arts program.And I’m surrounded by very proud parents. This was again quite unexpected! The kids were so good and so talented and they sang Halloween songs from my favorite movies. I wish Villain theater would have made it known that kids were allowed because I would have brought my own. We thought we were seeing a show for adults. I had an awesome time thanks to Avant Garde Academy!

This was such a great date night experience! The skits were actually funny. Very real and down to earth. The actors stayed in character so well and over exceeded my expectations for my first comedy show. Even the improv was really good. I highly recommend checking them out! If I was a local I’d definitely take a class as well, seems like good fun🎉

The cast and show always give their all! I've been to at least 5 Improv shows by now and I always leave fully entertained, joyful and grateful for the way they share their talent. I really love the interactivity of the show. This is a fully integrated experience, taking suggestions from the audience and turning them into plot twists filled with laughter and good times.

I love absolutely everything about this place! I checked out a few shows in the last few years and they were all awesome. I have since taken a few of their classes and they’ve all been nothing short of excellent! I had zero theater experience so I wasn’t sure how I’d mesh with everyone, but felt immediately at home thanks to the awesome teachers, the other students, and everyone who’s associated with this wonderful establishment. We went to the improv and sketch comedy last night and it was great. The theatre was great even though not in a prime neighborhood. I was very impressed with the talent level of the actors/comedians. After 16 years in New York and new to miami, I felt like the talent level and quality was on par to NY. The comedians put and extraordinary amount of time and effort into their skits. It was a lot of fun and I would recommend to anyone looking for some comedy or arts in miami. Thanks you for the great show
