I took my very first comedy class here, and it was a great experience. Tao is a great space for mics and shows. Independent. Cool. Black box. Safe space. Mics almost every night of the week and a very welcoming space for all levels of comedy.

I love the open mics at Tao, some of the best and most supportive in LA. I also took Bobbies standup class and it is incredible! Great for newbies or more established comics, she'll meet you wherever you're at in comedy. Highly recommend

This is THE gem of Los Angeles. If you want to attend mics, there are several every single week and they’re extremely supportive and you will meet really cool people along the way. If you want to see shows, they always have awesome lineups and the owner regularly donates proceeds from tickets to local charities. The space is GORGEOUS….seriously beautiful. And Bobbie, the owner, is the sweetest and most supportive human ever. If you want to take a comedy class, take HERS. Can’t say enough good things. 20/10.

Totally positive experiences there. I'm a newbie comic and I've found their open mics to be well moderated and hosted, and I always get a lot out of my time spent there. Bobbie, Chris, Kate, Sue, EVERYONE, have all been welcoming and friendly. I'm also so grateful to practice my comedy in such an inclusive space, especially as a queer woman. Thank you Tao Comedy! Bobbie and Chris Oliver were recommended to me and I signed up for their comedy classes. I flew from Phoenix, AZ to LA for the classes. After 8 weekend classes and devouring “The Tao of Comedy: Embrace the Pause”, Bobbie’s book, I did a showcase show at the studio which was pretty awesome and videoed and have headlined, featured and done sets EVERYWHERE! Bobbie’s private coaching online continues to amaze me as to how she has a way to bring out the funny in any situation. If you want to improve your jokes, go to LA and take the classes! You will get great feedback and a set of jokes that will be YOU! What more can I say? Tao Comedy Studio is THE place to go for learning comedy in a safe productive environment.

This is my favorite comedy club. It’s LGBTQ and woman friendly and there’s a friendly, welcoming community, run by a gem of a couple, Bobbie and Chris. Their riot grrrl festival and classes are great, and they have women’s open mics, queer open mics, and a depression in comedy support group. I recommend it to all my friends.

I can’t say enough good things about Tao and the owner, Bobbie Oliver. I just finished her 8 week comedy class and it was so helpful for me as a new comic. Class sizes are small and we received stage time and direct feedback each week, culminating in a student showcase in front of a live audience. The open mics are great and have and there’s one for everyone whether it’s the Monday all women’s mic or Tuesday LGQTQ+ and allies. I can’t wait to take her class again next year, it’s worth every penny.
