Summa Health Barberton Emergency Department

This place is horrible. Regardless of being in extreme pain, vomiting, and making them aware the previous medication didn't work ( which has never worked for me and I informed them if that) they just told me they can't do anything and I'll just have to deal with it and let it pass. The doctor didn't care at all. To add to this, I had to have my partner call in because I sat there for hours with my IV in and when she called, they said they had no one by that name. This shows how much they care about their patients. I was literally forgotten in a hallway by the bathrooms. If it wasn't for my partner calling in (I couldn't even walk to check on my own) I would have say there for who knows how long. The reason for coming there was not even treated, I was treated like I was an inconvenience they just wanted to get out of their hospital. I will NEVER go here again, I don't care if my life depended on it, I would rather risk it and go somewhere further. This is my second bad experience and I should have known better considering when I was admitted a few years ago I woke up to a needle left in my bed. People there don't care about anyone but themselves

The ER doctors are only in it for the money. They ignored my concerns and were quick to push me out on my first 2 visits this month. They failed to stabilize me on the first 2 visits when they discharged me. Don't come here ever if you need help. They don't have respect for their patients and will blatantly lie on your summary/discharge papers. The 3rd visit left me with nerve damage/pain that hasn't gone away from an IV needle that they refused to pull out even when I told them to, but they insist on getting blood rather than caring about the pain they just caused. They failed to even check out my arm after multiple times of me requesting them to do so. I will stay public about it too. People need to know how they treat others. I've already reached out to the right people to help take care of this issue.

I just spent four days here and was incredibly impressed by the professionalism and kindness of everyone, from the front desk staff to the nurses and surgeons. I never felt overlooked or unwelcome. They treated me with respect and provided excellent care. I’m truly grateful for everything they did for me. Thank you all so much.

Hello, First and foremost my purpose for this informative short non fiction experience of Barbertons ER. Goes out to there officers on scene you guys are awesome and I don't like police. Truthfully, as I received 911's answering machine 😂 at first, but hung up, because babertons officer Watson and the other officers. We're the fastest I've ever seen to respond. An there paramedics/ firefighters salute! My girlfriend and I was in a bad accident where some youngsters. Plowed into us running stop sign a crossed 4th Street pushing 45mph/ plus. We were on our way to Micky D's for coffee after work. Six ppl climbed out thank God from there vehicle as it was upside down. My vehicle was a hockey puck that had been shot across one lane and 20 25 ft down the side road of the stop sign they blew through, a neighborhood resident. Told us he had thought a house was hit from how loud the crash sounded My girlfriend and I are very thankful to be alive. As we'our for the youngsters. The driver who was drunk as all of them were. Will go to prison if I have to address in court my self. Now, for Barbertons E.R. I'm just at a loss for words. Ur feed back couldn't help or save ur reputation as being part of Summa. So Summa should cut it's tail and follow suit with St. Thomas for that branch and staff for E R. I don't write reviews. This is the truth. I couldn't walk leg was fractured. I hobbled barley by a cane. My arm could barely hold me up from the cane. My other arm was completely swelled down to my wrist. My knees was size of two soft balls. My girlfriends face, had pieces of glass stuck in her cheek and was bleeding her shoulder(rotator cup) was as she described felt out of place. My wrist did have a chip and was fractured. My knee hebesicues ligament was torn. The Dr. Gregory Smith M.D, seemed over worked, irritated and annoyed. Not towards us, but? So we both felt that he carries his emotions with him during his duties. Not one anti inflammatory or aspirin was given. As much real pain that I was feeling. An was treated as a addict for all the cases they deal with from day to day. Made me address my concern that two days of holiday business follow ups being closed. An your going to let us suffer. Is unconstitutional and is prejudice towards patients. That truly need alleviation of excruciating pain. I didn't want vics or perks or anything of that nature. Just something to reduce swelling and throbbing anti inflammatory or Nsads. The nurse who was a alcoholic said I been sober 14yrs. Bragging that she didn't need pain meds etc. Had me put her in her place." Ma'am why do you feel you have to give ur thoughts to us based off of what you may deal with day to day? That's immoral and professional discrimination towards the public. I don't care, but am happy for you that your not a after hour pub drinker any longer. As has nothing to do with mine and Nics pain. So please either assign ur self from my room or get ur's and physician boss down here as I ask them to access there concerns rather then urs . Right after. They released us and we left. This is January the first and I'm in so much pain that I can barely cope with this pain im in tears. I don't use any narcotics ever. An suffering is not worth the thoughts I have of those assholes in E R. I will never go to that place again. Thanks to the drug addict public individuals who made it so bad that this is how we're treated after a life threatening experience. Best of luck with that ER staying committed.

Horrible experience, our nurses were lovely so that's why they got a star. But otherwise, we were discharged knowing everything the problem wasn't but no answers of what it was. Also was treated in a hallway and the waiting room for everyone surrounding to hear intimate and personal details. When it wasn't even busy and they had rooms available. It's now 2 days later and the patient now has an infection from where they drew blood. So yeah, would not recommend.

Don’t recommend if you want someone who cares about you , I went in there for a kidney infection it was confirmed all I was given was IV fluids of sodium chloride They gave me antibiotics. They told me to be a couple days until my culture came back even though I already have a kidney infection and they are highly risking me going into sepsis so anybody who is going to the hospital I really hope you consider this because they could’ve killed me. Two days later, they have yet to call me to give me any antibiotics and I’m still in extreme pain and I still have a fever don’t go there if you want your health taken seriously

Barberton Hospital & all the Doctors, Surgeons, Anesthesiologists , Nurses, Nurse Practitioners Anyone & Everyone who was involved in saving my life in August deserves a month vacation, a raise & a medal 🥇 🎖️ 🏅. Later on I was transferred to Akron City Hospital because I could have died @ any moment. It was that serious. I showed no symptoms & felt fine except for the diarrhea. They nurses,surgeon's & doctors treated me with respect & a human being not to mention answered every question I & my wife had. They took their time to explain what was happening & didn’t rush out some explanation in 3 minutes or less. I live in Portage County and University Hospital is closer to me & I did go there & was asked to leave the ER 6 times because it was extremely busy & the ER Doctor deemed my Emergency as Non-Life Threatening without running one test on me. My blood pressure was 188/92 & the doctor said that it could be due to the fact that I was upset at how I & everyone else was being treated at University Hospital in Ravenna. Barberton ran every test they could & found I had gallstones & needed my gallbladder removed right away. Also I had a clogged artery in my leg & it also needed emergency surgery or I would lose my leg. Barberton Hospital & Akron City saved my life and healed the pain I was in. Pain from healing is far different from the constant searing pain I was in the moment I opened my eyes till I closed them if I slept at all. Barberton Summa staff & Akron City Summa staff (all) were professional, courteous, kind , respectful, caring people. I will not go to another Hospital unless it’s Barberton or Akron City. Thank you for listening to me & saving my life

Had an outstanding experience last week with the ER visit. At first, I was slightly reluctant to visit Barberton as I've always heard negative things. I've had one experience a few years ago and besides having to deal with the rudest nurse/person I've ever encountered, my overall visit wasn't bad. Last weeks visit was worth praising them. Fairly short wait time, quick attention, personable care from the nurses and they were very communicative throughout the process. They were patient and answered my questions. There was one nurse there that seemed like he could easily (and probably commonly does) demoralize the others. I was given instruction to call and follow up with their written referral but they actually scheduled the appointment for me.
