Harvey Point Defense Testing Activity

It appears to be a secret base where elite military personnel train for secret and risky missions. Seal Team 6 trained there to carry out the mission to kill Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.

I have worked and otherwise visited several military bases, and Harvey Point is by far the most restricted. They check your vehicle thoroughly, including a the engine compartment. You are assigned a minder whom you follow to your job site via a different route each day and stays with you all day. No cell phones or cameras. Some of the structures are bizarre, mock ups of urban environments in the middle of the woods. We live close by and hear window rattling explosions, usually in 3s, quite often. Most interestingly, there is a neighborhood that is accessed through the base. Of course, there is high fencing and a berm to block the view from cars. Don't even think of going out there unless you have business on base.

Was denied entrance to facility. Was told that boater who ran out of gas was confronted as he drifted into restricted area in a sail boat. Harvey Point provided gas but then he experienced engine overhaeting. Local boaters assisted him to the nearest marina. Very nice. I read about the place in a book written by a seal team member. The book was a best seller at the time. The book described the auto trip down Rt. 17 and the twisty route to Harvey Point. Interesting. Local elected leaders got to visit the place recently and were given an outstanding meal. I would like a free meal but there is no free lunch. A fact of life! The grounds and security and meals are all top notch. Must be only for selected few! That leaves me out.

Really good time, sheets smelled great and they supplied the guests with little candy on the pillow each morning.
